Question
We are planning a simple outdoor wedding at a local State Park, we were also planning on having the reception there as well. We are on a extremely tight budget and we're wondering if anyone has ever heard of having potluck for the reception. I was wondering what the wedding etiquette was on such a thing, if there is any. Thanks for any advice you can give us we truly appreciate it.

Question
I am the mother of the groom, but I am a financially struggling single parent trying to put myself through college. I love my son dearly and do not want to short or embarrass him. He has lived on his own since he was 17 and works hard and goes to college too, and will pull his own weight financially on this. The bride is wonderful and her parents are putting on a beautiful wedding, and would probably gladly do the rehearsal dinner also, but I want to do my part, and make my son proud. any suggestions for a rehearsal dinner on a shoestring? I live in a tiny apartment, so having it in my own home is out of the question, but I do have a friend with a beautiful home, yard and decks. I want to do something that will be nice but that I can afford to do without asking my son or the bride's family for help.
